The second round attracted a total of 82 eligible starting combinations.

All of the starters were beginning their 2014 Championship Final qualifying campaign as up for grabs at this second round were two direct qualifying tickets for the EquestrianClearance.com Senior Newcomers Championship Final at the Horse of the Year Show (HOTY).

All of the combinations were aiming to take one of these tickets home.

Alice took the win on her mother Gillian’s seven year-old grey gelding Optimo after the combination jumped a treble clear in a quick time of 42.40 seconds.

She then went on to secure second place on Dy-Korette, a six year-old bay mare also owned by her mother Gillian. Alice produced yet another treble clear, this time in 45.13 seconds.

Speaking after her win, Alice said: “It was such a surprise to me to win, as well as take second place.

“I am extremely pleased with both performances as I have brought both of these horses on from the very beginning. It will be interesting to see what the future brings for them.”

The combinations in third to fifth missed out on their Horse of the Year Show qualification this time around.
