The star pairing on Saturday were ten-handicappers Trevor Larkin and Alan Collyer who dovetailed impressively to claim the Waterfall Cup with a better-ball 46 points.

Playing from the gold tees off nine tenths of their handicaps they carded five birdies between them to finish one under par gross.

Michael Snee and John Badillo were only two points behind while Elliot Cloy and Aaron Peacock just shaded Colin Gibson and son Cameron on countback after both pairs signed for 43.

Sunday’s stableford was won with 40 points by Darren Baxter off nine while Michael Snee took runner-up spot for the second day running after beating Cam Bates on countback with 39.

A busy weekend also saw Giles Korner beat Matt Pateman 2 & 1 to win the men’s summer knockout and yielded two hole-in-ones, Chris Dean aceing the 10th on Saturday and Nigel Walsh repeating the feat on Sunday.

Earlier, Carolyn Kimberley carded nine pars to win the ladies’ stableford finals with 38 points and reduce her 20 handicap by a shot.

A back six countback was needed to earn Julia Hoskins the runner-up spot after she and Lynne Jones both finished with 35.

Steve Parker and John Gallagher dropped just three shots to par in the seniors’ Mrs Dunkerton Cup.

But their fine better-ball 46 points only earned them the trophy on countback from an equally impressive Paul Trueman and Richard Lotinga.

Peter Ireland and Geoff Case were third with 43.
