Horsham have also signed Broadbridge Heath attacker Tiago Andrade and wide, former AFC Wimbledon player Reece Batchelor.

Axell re-joins up with Horsham boss Dominic Di Paola having had a number of successful season together at East Preston in the then County League.

The loan situation will be assessed at the end of the four-week period.

Di Paola said: “Matt Axell is a fantastic lad and excellent player who was brilliant for us at EP.

“He was great for Worthing last season and so we are happy to have him with us, even if it is just for a short time.”

Worthing joint-manager Jon Meeney said: “We’ve got an agreement with Horsham that he’ll go there for a month to get some games under his belt.

“He’s had a groin injury, so needs some games and then we’ll assess everything at the end of the month.”

Andrade meanwhile has been a stalwart for local rivals Heath for many years as well as being on duel-registrations for Dorking Wanderers last season.

Full-back/winger Batchlor meanwhile joins from Worthing United.

Di Paola added: “Tiago has signed full-time with us. He always gave us tough games when we have faced him down the years and he gives us a different option to what we have as he is a bit more of a physical forward.

“We will see how he goes over next few weeks.”

“Reece started season at East Grinstead before playing a few games at Worthing United. He is a good athlete and technically good. Although, very young and bit rough around the edges but hopefully we can help improve him.”
