Twitter awash with support ahead of Hornet’s Hop Oast hearing

Council officers backed the proposal by recommending that the plans be approved last week and tonight is set to be one of the biggest in the club’s 134-year history.

Horsham District Council will discuss two applications this evening - one for the new ground off Worthing Road and the other for 57 homes at the Holbrook Club.

The club requires both to go through as the Holbrook development will fund the new facility at Hop Oast and hand them their first permanent home since leaving Queen Street in May 2008.

Messages of support have flooded in on Twitter over the past 24 hours from people from the town, other clubs, supporters, past players and the football community.

Club injury Therapist Andi Marfleet (@andima1) tweeted: “Tomorrow is a massive day for @HorshamFC with the decision on the new ground. HDC need to see sense and do the right thing #Home4Horsham.”

Brighton supporter James Bush (@Bushboy69) gave his support: “Good luck today @HorshamFC . Every club needs a proper home .... Been through it all over the years as a Brighton fan! #Home4Horsham.”

The majority of well wishes started pouring in on social media on Monday with people using the hashtag #Home4Horsham to show their support.
