Woodford returned to the Hornets last week following a spell at Southern Premier League side Dorchester Town.

The defender returns to the club with them currently sitting second bottom in the table and six points from safety.

But the returning Woodford believes a club of Horsham’s size should not be in their current position and he is hoping to help them climb the table.

He said: “I’m really pleased to be back at the club, I had a chat with the gaffer and met some of the players last week.

“I knew most of the team from when I was here before so it wasn’t to much of a shock for me.

“It’s been a really difficult season for the lads so far this year but a club of this size should not be where it currently is.

“I have not come here to be involved in a relegation and I’m sure the management do not want that either.”

Horsham secured a first win in seven Ryman League South matches against Sittingbourne last time out and now go in search for back-to-back league wins for the first time this year against Walton & Hersham on Saturday.

And Woodford is hoping his side get on a good run and move away from the bottom of the table.

He added: “If you look at Burgess Hill ,who are unbeaten all year and on a great run, it just goes to show you what can be achieved.

“Horsham is a really big club and really should not be in a the position it is in.

“Hopefully we can go a run of six or seven games unbeaten and begin to climb the table.

“If we are able to get on a little run we could be reach mid table or even push for the play-offs come the end of the season.”
