New-boys Scott Wilson and Peter Tarrant made an immediate impact on Horsham YMCA, with the latter scoring YM’s opener in Saturday’s 3-0 win at Sidley.
Both were thrown into the side after signing from Crawley Down, and Tarrant tapped-in the first after fine work from Martin Smith, skipper Ash Dugdale made it 2-0 just before the break.
The hosts came out with purpose in the second half, but a composed and confident YM added a third ten minutes after the restart through Smith. Sidley heads dropped and the visitors could have scored five or six.
And with another new signing, Elliott Romain, from Three Bridges, now on board and expected to make his debut tomorrow night, Buckland has set a demanding target of his men.
“It was a very good win and we played very well,” Buckland said. “It was just the result we needed to give us a lift. I said that I was looking for a response at Loxwood on Tuesday, and I pretty much got it, and then it was the same again today.
“Everything went to plan against a good Sidley side. “The lads are at last listening to what I’m saying and I’m getting my tactical points across and they’re taking it on board. It was a good, measured performance all round the pitch.
““I said to the players before today’s game that there are four league games coming up now, where if we can pick up twelve points, it will turn our season right on its head. I can’t wait until Tuesday now.”
