NEW Steyning Towm FC manager Richard Whittington says he will be using his 20 years of experience in Sussex County League football to rebuild the side.
Whittington was appointed Steyning manager last week, filling the post left vacant by Dave Shearing, who was released after guiding the side to Division 2 safety last season.
And Whittington, who was Shearing’s number two, will be leaning heavily on local players and youth.
He said: “I’m excited and looking forward to it. It will be a lot of hard work.
“Dave has left and taken half the players with him (to Worthing United). I have got to build a new squad.
“I want to be using local players, as many as I can, we’re talking about from the Brighton to Horsham aarea so it is a large catchment.
“I would be happy with mid table, that would represent progress.”
