Horsham YMCA boss Peter Buckland faced some tough decisions on Tuesday night after deciding to cull his first team squad to 18 in the wake of their narrow defeat to Horsham.
With YM’s league season beginning this Saturday with the visit of Crowborough Athletic, Buckland has not wasted any time in trimming his squad in preparation.
“It’s going to be a late night, it’s not something I like doing but it’s a coward that doesn’t do it properly face to face,” Buckland said following the 2-0 defeat.
YM were missing three key players but still put in a creditable performance and Buckland said: “The main difference between the two sides was the finishing as you could see.
“We had probably nearly as much possession as them and three clear-cut chances and didn’t take one, they had a couple and took both of them.
“I can wait for form but I can’t wait for goals, that’s something I’ll have to address.”
Despite a 6-0 defeat to Oakwood and Saturday’s 4-0 defeat to Crawley Down, Buckland reiterated his aim to finish in the top six in SCFL Division 1.
YM play their final warm-up game tonight before hosting Crows on Saturday, and then go to East Grinstead Town on Tuesday night, also in the league.
