STORRINGTON were accused of thinking too far ahead when they lost 2-1 at home to County League Division 2 relegation threatened Oakwood on Saturday.
Storrington face AFC Uckfield in the Division 2 Cup final on Friday evening, and Hamilton believes the temptation to be distracted proved too great as Oaks snatched all three points.
Pat Massaro set Oaks on their way before the visitors capitalised on a loose pass to make it 2-0.
Liam Humphreys gave the Swans some hope with a stunning volley before the break, but they were unable to muster a leveller.
Hamilton said: “I think the guys out there were looking towards the final. I did warn them about that beforehand and said it would be a last chance to play themselves into the team.
“But that fell on deaf ears. I am not a psychologist but I think a few of the guys out there were thinking about Friday night’s game and not Saturday’s.”
