Steyning Town have been urged to recreate their cup form in Sussex County League Division 2.
Richard Whittington’s side stormed into the last eight of the Division 2 Cup with Saturday’s 3-0 defeat of Midhurst, but despite three successive wins in knockout competitions, Town have just one point from their last three league matches.
“We can beat anyone on our day but we have a problem with consistency,” Whittington said. “We are able to get up for the big cup matches but then we struggle to maintain the level of performance week after week. That is why we are doing well in the cups but we have not got results in the league. Once we find that consistency and produce high levels of performances on a weekly basis then there is no doubt we will start picking up points in the league.”
