Seagulls edge past Rooks to set up Sussex Senior semi with Horsham

BRIGHTON & Hove Albion Reserves will be Horsham’s opponents in the semi-final of the Sussex Senior Cup after they edged past Lewes last night (Wednesday).

Leon Redwood’s goal after only two minutes was enough to give the Seagulls a 1-0 win at the Dripping Pan, and hosts Lewes were not helped when debutant Pat O’Connor was shown a straight red for violent conduct.

Brighton also finished the game with ten men when Agusten Battipiedi collected a second booking with ten minutes remaining and despite a late Rooks charge it is Brighton who go on to face John Maggs’ Hornets.

The date of the semi-final is still to be arranged but both sides will have the major incentive of the final being the first competitive game at Brighton’s new stadium at Falmer in July.
