Steve Painter is all smiles after Broadbridge Heath’s ‘dream’ start to life in Division 1 of the County League.
The Bears have roared into life in their return to the top flight with a 1-0 victory over Loxwood on Saturday and a 2-1 win at Horsham YMCA on Tuesday night.
Painter felt his side secured a deserved victory over The Magpies, but rode their luck against YM.
He said: “Six points is a dream and I have not stopped smiling. Three from the first two I would have taken, even two draws, although I wouldn’t have been happy as I thought we could nick one.
“There were a lot of positives from the YM game. I know now we have bottle and can win games ugly as we dug in and stuck together. In that respect it was a really good performance, we showed a lot character and I am proud of the players.
“Remember three years ago we were in County 3. There is a long, long way to go still and a lot of work to do.”
