Beaten YM must continue to believe

HORSHAM YMCA boss John Cumberbatch says his side cannot give up hope of escaping relegation from the Ryman League.

YM lost 2-0 at home to Godalming Town on Saturday and time is running out to haul themselves out of the Division 1 South drop zone.

Goals from Godalming front man Dave Stevens undid Cumberbatch’s men, who are now nine points adrift of second bottom Corinthian Casuals, who have two games in hand.

Cumberbatch said: “They have all got to believe that it’s worth putting in the effort and that we can pick up points.

“Every time that we have picked up the one point or even the three points from a game, like against Met. Police, the teams above have always more or less matched us.

“This has been difficult, but we have to remember that it can all so suddenly change. We are going to keep working at it and until it’s mathematically impossible, I will always believe that it can be done.”
