From the back pages, March 25: Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber descend into F1 civil war

Red Bull’s Mark Webber said he was considering his future after his team-mate, Sebastian Vettel, robbed him of victory in Sunday’s Malaysian Grand Prix in defiance of orders from the team principal, Christian Horner. Webber was leading with 10 laps to go when Vettel, ignoring instructions from Horner for both drivers to hold their positions, attacked. Horner warned: “This is silly, Seb. Come on!” The team-mates came close to colliding around several turns before Vettel, the world champion, overtook for his 27th grand prix win, equalling Jackie Stewart’s total. (The Guardian)

Southend United have sacked manager Paul Sturrock just two weeks before they play in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final. The side are ninth in League Two and although they are in poor form, this move comes out of the blue. Bizarrely, although they will appoint a new manager on Monday, they will allow Sturrock to take charge of the team at Wembley. (Daily Mail)

Lewis Hamilton came in for his first stop in Malaysia and look up to see a pit crew lined up and waiting. Just not his pit crew. Six seasons in Formula One and a lifetime in McLaren colours are clearly not erased that easily and Hamilton caused guffaws when he mistakenly drove into the McLaren team pit box. (The Times)
