Horsham boss Simon Colbran bemoans poor decisions in defeat at Folkestone

The visitors were made to pay for missing a number of good early chances when super strikes from Johan Ter Horst and Richard Atkins put the Kent play-off chasers 2-0 up at half time.

Charlie Farmer’s goal 13 minutes from time gave the Hornets renewed hope, but in the final minutes the offside flag denied them a number of chances at goal, including a penalty which the referee had blown for in the final minute of stoppage time.

Colbran said: “Some of the offside decisions were unbelievable. We were really pushing and we got back into it with Charlie’s goal, but then for some unknown reason the linesman decided to intervene.

“There were four offsides, all you could argue were onside and two which were so clear that even one of their subs, who was in line with play admitted it was clearly not offside.

“It was very frustrating because we worked so hard and definitely deserved something from the game.”

Colbran admitted his side should have scored at least one of their early chances, as good balls into the box were not dispatched before two “wonder goals which they wouldn’t score again in ten years” put the hosts clear at the break.

With both Three Bridges and Walton & Hersham winning it drops Colbran’s side to second bottom in the table. They are five points clear and have a game in hand on Walton Casuals, who occupy the sole relegation spot, ahead of Tuesday’s visit of Chipstead.

“The last six games we’ve been brilliant and picked up some really valuable points so we just need to keep that momentum going,” Colbran added.
