Horsham boss Di Paola - Departed forward didn't show what everyone knows he's capable of

Dominic Di Paola admitted the departed Kieran Lavery didn’t ‘show what we know he’s capable of’ for Horsham – but the manager has left the door open for him to return to the club in the future.

The forward joined SCFL Premier Division high-flyers Horley Town on Friday.

Lavery, who initially joined the Clarets on a one-month loan deal in November, was in and out of the first team for the Hornets this campaign.

The striker made 15 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring once.

The former South Park forward joined Horsham in December 2018 on a month-long loan deal from Dorking Wanderers to rebuild his fitness.

Lavery then rejoined the Hornets on loan in January 2019 for the rest of season before making his move permanent in the summer.

In total, Lavery made 38 appearances throughout his Horsham career, scoring four goals.

Di Paola said: “From his point of view he’s struggled for fitness, so he just needs to play some games.

“He’s had two pretty frustrating seasons in his own mind.

“In the past two season he’s not done what everyone knows Kieran Lavery can do.

“He just needs to be playing some minutes. He’s been nagging me for weeks about potentially going back to Horley Town and getting some minutes under his belt.

“He had a good start to the season but he picked up injuries and then he missed some games because he went away.

“He’s not shown what we know he’s capable of but hopefully we see him in a shirt for Horsham again.

“He’s a good lad and a well-liked lad.

“I told him that when he’s fit enough to play to give me a shout and we’ll have him back.

“If he wants to come back we’d gladly have him.”
