Horsham 0 Redhill 2: Hornets suffer second defeat in a row

Two second half goals by Richmond Kissi and Jon Difford settled the match in the visitors’ favour.

However Horsham only had themselves to blame as in the first half they created at least a couple of good opportunities to score but failed to take their chances.

Manager Simon Colbran made three changes to the side which lost 2-0 to Burgess Hill on Saturday for the clash with his former club who have been promoted from the County League with Scott Harris, Gaby Odunaike and Tony Nwachukwu replacing injured forwards Billy Dunn and Jamie Cade while Kery Kedze was on the bench.

It was a better all-round display than the dire fair offered at the weekend as Nwachukwu hit the crossbar, Ross Morley shot wide and Nwachukwu headed straight to the keeper in the opening 20 minutes.

in the second half Michael Hunter denied Kissi with a good save before Horsham enjoyed a dominant spell of possession around the hour mark.

A Morley corner was headed narrowly off-target by Byron Napper. Moments later Nachukwu supplied Odunaike whose shot was saved on the line by Redhill keeper Matthew Huxter in Hornets’ best chance of the night.

Redhill seized upon a mistake by Billy Joe King in the 67th minute to take the lead. Kissi intercepted an attempted clearance, rounded Hunter before tapping in to the net.

Horsham had two more chances to equalise before Redhill added their second as Odunaike headed over the bar unmarked from a free-kick and then from a corner, Gary Charman went forward, could not connect and Jahmahl King fired over the bar.

Difford somewhat luckily sealed victory with a shot through a crowded penalty area which was cruelly defelcted into his own net by Charman.
