The former Roffey manager took over at Spooners Road in the summer as the predecessor to Scott Shorey.

But with AFC taking up the opportunity to join the Southern Combination League after finishing sixth in Division 1 of the West Sussex League last year, they were always in for a tough task.

Plenty of players left the club over the summer and they sit bottom of Division 3 with four points from their 13 games despite results improving.

Increased work commitments has meant former AFC Wimbledon boss Eames has decided to call it a day, but leaves the club on good terms.

He said: “It’s just too much with football as well at the moment. It came to a head when I have not been able to get there until kick-off time.

“That’s not fair on the players. They have Steve (Tasker) and Jon (Lawrence) there and I would not have done it, but I know they are in good hands.

“I just thought that fair is fair and it was time. Results were not great, but were picking up a bit, but it’s not down to that whatsoever.

“I have known Pete (Farley) for 20 years and we started on good terms and left on good terms, if they need me they know where I am.”

Club secretary Pete Farley added: “He felt stepping down also might bring a few new faces and ideas to the club.

“We thank Terry for stepping in at the beginning of the season, but work commitments and the fact results were not going too well, he just felt he could not give anymore.

“We are looking for someone to step in and take a bit of pressure off us. We were given the opportunity at the beginning of the season to go into the County League, and a lot of people thought we were a bit silly.

“But it was a one-time only opportunity and we knew it would be hard when Scott left and a lot of the players retired, but we have got some good young footballers and things are picking up.”

Tasker, Lawrence and Farley will continue to look after the first team until a new appointment is made. Anyone interested, can contact Farley on 07850041243.
