Dom Di Paola’s team put in a dominant performance to beat Epsom and Ewell 3-0 on Sunday after two goals and an assist from MoM Kieron Pamment.

Epsom had a chance to take he lead on 15 minutes with a well worked move down the left flank resulting in a shot from Kyle Hough, but the striker’s effort drifted just wide of the post.

Other than that, the teams proved well matched in the first half. Horsham showed slightly more quality on the ball, all-though after the game Di Paola admitted they were guilty of overplaying at times, and both defenses looked solid as most attempts on goal came from outside the area.

In the second half however the home team raised their game.

Just five minutes after the restart, Pamment dribbled into the box while striker Scott Murfin got onto the end of his team-mates cross and claimed a tap in.

From then on, Horsham dictated the game with good possession and the dangerous Pamment acting as an outlet down the left flank.

Despite numerous chances, the Hornets were unable to add to their solitary goal and in the 85th minute came a pivotal moment. Keeper Gareth Williams appeared to drop the ball from a free kick allowing Hough to poke the ball into the empty net. Much to the home fans relief however, referee Jack Owen ruled that Williams had been pushed and the goal was disallowed.

After that moment of near agony, Horsham killed the game off a minute later. Samir Hadi won the ball on the right and found Terry Dodd who in turn picked out Pamment and, making no mistake, the winger slotted the ball home.

In the 94th minute Pamment again finished neatly into the bottom corner to round off the scoring and settle the tie at 3-0.

Speaking after the game, Di Paola said, ‘Its really pleasing to put in such a good performance and almost completely carry out the game plan.

‘Pamment played really well, he always does, but I thought the two center backs, Ashley Jones and Charlie Farmer, deserve a lot of credit because Epsom’s number 9 (Hough) is a good player and they dealt with him really well.’
