Izale McLeod wants to leave Crawley Town
Crawley Town’s topscorer Izale McLeod wants to leave the club, manager Mark Yates has revealed.
The former Charlton and Portsmouth striker scored 21 goals for Reds last season and still has another year on his contract.
There has been increased speculation this week that other clubs are interested in buying the former £1.1million player.
Barnsley, Coventry City and Millwall are among those who are believed to be interested, and Crawley have received a bid for him which they have not accepted.
Illness has ruled McLeod, 30, out of Reds’ last three pre-season games, although he was present watching yesterday’s 2-1 defeat away to Whitehawk.
Yates said: “He told me he was ill at 1.30pm. We have had an offer which doesn’t match our valuation.
“I know Izale doesn’t want to be at the football club and that’s all I want to say on that.
“If someone pays what I think he’s worth then he’ll go, if not he’ll be in the stand all season so we’ll see where we go with it.
“He made it abundantly clear to me he doesn’t want to be at this football club and he doesn’t want us to stand in his way.
“I don’t want people like that. If he wants to spend a year doing nothing, that’s fine by me.”
