Reds kept a clean sheet for the first time since his first game in charge against Colchester over Christmas.

“That sort of result for them can damage their morale as well so they will find it hard to lift themselves but they have some really good players and it is a great result again.

“Nine points in a week – the players have done magnificently. I kept the same team so the same players have done it, apart from Brian Jensen who came on to play his part.

“But we are not out of trouble yet. On we go with Gillingham and we have got to do it again.”

Saunders praised his goalkeepers and his defence for keeping out the Orient attack.

“We’ve got a clean sheet today and all our defenders defended really well against an attack which is as good as anything in the league.

“Budgetwise their centre forward (Chris Dagnall) is on more than our whole team put together!

“In the second half we played got behind the ball and couldn’t get through us.

“We’ve got a chance for us of getting out of it completely so we are not scrambling at the end of the season.”
