Crawley Town 0 Wycombe 0: Reds hold Chairboys to draw

After an even first half both sides had a go after the break but in the end Crawley keeper Freddie Woodman was up to the challenge as a shot-stopper.

Crawley created plenty of chances of their own with Lewis Young particularly showing good pace and Gwion Edwards getitng forward well on the opposite flank.

However ultimately neither side’s finishing was good enough to find the net and the game ended in a stalemate.

Both teams held a minute’s silence before kick-off in reepect for those who lost their lives at last Saturday’s Shoreham Airshow disaster.

Reds made one change with Jimmy Smith coming in for the suspended Liam Donnelly.

Joe mcNurney switched from his usual centre back to cover at right back for the absent Donnelly.

Matt Harrold and two-goal hero from last week Roarie Deacon played up front.

Wycombe made two changes with striker Aaron Amadi-Holloway replacing the injured former Crawley loanee Paul Hayes and Jason Banton in for Janoi Donacien.

Wycombe’s Garry Thompson and Aaron Amadi-Holloway both went close in the first half, Thompson going wide and Amadi-Holloway actually got the ball in the net but the goal was ruled out for offside.

Amadi-Holloway forced Freddie Woodman to make a fantastic save to prevent a goal hitting on the rebound after he had already denied Thompson.

For Crawley Lewis Young looked lively, seeing two efforts either cleared or tipped over the crossbar for a corner by keeper Matt Ingram.

Rooney came on for the injured Joe McNerney just before half-time, he went into central midfield and Jimmy Smith dropped to right back.

In the second half a Smith cross found Young whose header was blocked for a corner.

Edwards switched to the right wing and went on a great run cutting into the middle of the area before Christian Scales overlapped and shot straight at keeper Matt Ingram.

The Wycombe custodian also saved a shot on the turn by Simon Walton.

Then at the other end Rooney’s corner was met by Sonny Bradley who came forward but headed over the bar.

Lewis Young tried to finish a move involving Deacon and Edwards with a low shot which was comfortably saved.

In the closing stages Thompson put a chance wide while Deacon was denied from a narrow angle.

Edwards could not find the target with another opportunity from the left side of the six-yard box.
