Saunders warned of the threat of the Iron’s forward line.

He said: “We are just concentrating on our own fixtures. I haven’t even looked at the other ones.

“We must come back from Scunthorpe with the points.

“Their front-four can score against anybody Paddy Madden, Theo Robinson, Gary McSheffrey and Kevin van Veen and I’ve been a bit surprised about how low they are bearing in mind who they have.

“We are third in the form league at the moment so we are on-form at the right time.

“We have to make sure we don’t get complacent and think the games are going to be easy.”

Saunders reckoned the 2-1 home defeat suffered at the hands of Gillingham served as a timely wake-up call to spur them on.

He said: “The Gillingham game gave us the kick which we needed and has helped us because we have gone on and got two good results.

“We’ve had a chance to look at things and on Saturday we have started much better.

“This was the most disciplined performance since I’ve been here. They had two shots on target, one was a free-kick and one was late-on in the game.

“The result on Saturday wasn’t bad after we had beaten Oldham because we went above Crewe.

“Our game against Oldham was one which we did really well in.”
