The skipper marked his 300th senior appearance - all but three of which in an Albion shirt - by helping the Seagulls draw 0-0 with Champions League chasing Wolves at Molineux.

“It was nice to mark my 300th game with a clean sheet which we really needed,” said Dunk. “That’s two gritty away performances now, with Sheffield United a couple of weeks ago as well, against two sides who are doing well in the league.

“Wolves have got players who can hurt you – they are a top side – but we stayed focused and worked hard to get a clean sheet we haven’t had for a long time. It gives us a base to build on in the last nine games of the season.

"Wolves are doing very well in the Europa League as well and are a top side, which they have shown against European sides. It was a hard place to come but we dealt with it well."

Dunk was also impressed with his defensive colleague Dan Burn who played an excellent 70 minutes and then had to deal with Wolves' second half substitute Adama Traore.

"We have seen it all season he is a monster," said Dunk "He is quick and he is powerful. He is always going to be a tough opponent especially when you look at Dan, he's played 70 minutes and it breathing out of his behind.

"He then has got the quickest player in the Premier League coming on against him. But Dan did a good job against him and he didn't create too much actually."

Albion have also adapted their defensive style slightly and in the last few matches, its been noticeable they are taking fewer risks when playing out from the back.

"We are still learning and we have still got a long way to go," said Dunk. "So we have got to learn from what we have been doing before. If you are making mistakes and causing problems for yourself, you have to think about it and we looked at it.

"We are in a position where too many risks are going to be dangerous for us, so we have got to make sure we cut them out. "

Next up for Albion is the visit of Arsenal to the Amex on Saturday and the opportunity to claim their first double of the season.

“We showed in that game that we can compete against the best and results against top teams only builds confidence," said Dunk.

“Arsenal have improved under their new manager but we have given ourselves something to build on with the performance against Wolves and it’s a game we’ll prepare well for and look forward to.

“We need to fight in every game until the end of the season and make sure we’re in the Premier League next year."
