The enforced break has allowed striker Connolly (ankle) and midfielder Alzate (groin) to have minor surgery and they are expected to be available again soon.

The Premier League was suspended to April 3 due to coronavirus and that suspension was extended today until April 30. It should allow them plenty of time to recover should play resume at the end of April.

Both players have enjoyed a rapid rise to prominence this season. This time last year, Alzate was on loan at Swindon, while Connolly was playing for Brighton under-23s.

Head coach Graham Potter has shown tremendous faith in the youngsters. They have contributed well in the Premier League and both have also received full international honours.

Alzate was capped by Colombia and Connolly, 19, was called up for the Ireland national team.

Alzate's versatility has proved extremely useful for Potter. He has featured as right back, wing-back, left wing-back, all across the midfield and also playing behind the striker.

Aside from long-term knee injury victim Jose Izquierdo, Brighton are injury free.

Alexis Mac Allister has had a strange introduction to life in the Premier League with Brighton. He has featured for just 13 minutes at Wolves, having cut his season long loan deal at Boca Juniors short and joining on transfer deadline day.

Mac Allister’s brother Kevin, who plays for Argentinos Juniors, told local radio in Argentina: “Alexis tries to take it easy. My mum went to visit him, we prefer that she stays quarantined there with him. In that area there are not many infected. I’m sure he is on Playstation all day.”
