Another injury time goal costs Horsham YMCA - this time at lofty Redhill

For the second time in as many games Horsham YMCA were undone by an injury time goal - this time costing them a point away at promotion-chasing Redhill.

After conceding in the 11th minute of stoppage time at home to Dorking Wanderers on Tuesday, YM were left devastated for the second time in five days as Lee Radford’s 94th-minute wonder strike completed a late turnaround for the Reds.

Manager Peter Buckland said: “What a day again! This time it was the 94th minute - unbelievable! I’m so proud of the players though. With the team that we had out, we did fantastic.

“Redhill are flying in second in the league and I think a draw would have been a fair result, that’s how good a performance we put in.

YM got off to the perfect start when Brad Curtis netted his second goal in as many games inside the first minute. But Redhill, who currently sit second, responded well and equalised through Chris Gregson just after the half hour mark, as YM’s Matt Crane was caught flat footed in defence.

The hosts then put YM under a barrage of pressure during the second period, but it wasn’t until the fourth minute of stoppage time that they finally broke through a resilient YM back line, Radford firing into the top corner.

Boss Buckland added: “We took the game to them and I’d say we were the far better team in the first half and unlucky to only go in with one goal. They came at us like a steam train at the start of the second half, but we weathered the storm for ten or 15 minutes and the game settled down.”
