Ampleford at the double as young Hornets march into Sussex semi final

Under-18: Horsham Youth enjoyed mixed results in two games played in the space of four days.

On Thursday evening in the Ryman Youth League they went down to a 3-1 defeat to South Coast rivals Worthing Youth.

The Rebels took an early lead after just four minutes but Horsham responded well with some good attacking play, and Zach Haulkham struck from 25 yards to make it 1-1 at the break.

The second half was a tight affair with chances limited at both ends. The Rebels went ahead with 12 minutes left and sealed the game with a third goal soon after.

On the Sunday they bounced back to beat Crawley Down Gatwick Youth 3-1 to reach the last four of the County Youth Cup.

Despite dominating possesion for the first half the Hornets only led by one goal at the break thanks to Jamie Ampleford.

Crawley Down equalised with their first chance midway through the second half, but Horsham came back strongly and regained the lead through Jake Legrange before Ampleford struck a third to seal the win late on.

Broadbridge Heath’s U12s continued their good form with a resounding 8-1 victory at Forest Row.

In a competive first half, Tom Clark scored just before the break to lead 2-0 but in the second half, BBH defended well and broke quickly to score further goals and seal the victory.

MOM Tom Clark finished with five goals, with two from Jack Haines and another from Sam Brooker. Also mentioned for another consistent performance was Finlay Smithers-Green.
