Albion’s England star sets sights on first team squad

The talented midfielder, who is the youngster player to ever play for the Albion, has yet to be called up to the first team squad this season, despite impressing against Stoke City in the FA Cup last year.

But he made another solid performance for England’s Under 18s team in the 1v1 draw with Slovakia this week and is wants to break into the Seagulls’ matchday squad.

Speaking earlier in the season, Forster-Caskey, who had hoped to build on positive outings last term, said, “The way I play I believe is better suited to the Championship than League One because it is more football and that is what I like.

“I have a two year deal [at Brighton] and I want to do my best for the club.

“I just hope I can make an impact this year.”

And after the Albion starting 11 maybe the full England team? “You have to believe that one day you can play for the England senior team otherwise it won’t happen.”

Forster-Caskey has already been linked with moves to Arsenal and Aston Villa but insists he sees his future very much at The Amex.

With midfield maestro Gary Dicker currently nursing a broken leg, that chance may come sooner rather than later.
