Striker Glenn Murray says this season will only be enjoyable if Albion reach the Premier League.
Murray has netted 18 goals this season and been named in the EFL Championship team of the year but said: "I wouldn't say I've enjoyed it.
"If we get promoted and you ask me that again, then I will have enjoyed it. But the league is a difficult one because it's a constant battle.
"It's a battle for positions week in, week out, for points. It's a personal battle for as many goals as I can get, so I don't really find it that enjoyable.
"If you ask me on the back of a hat-trick or two goals, I find it enjoyable but it's not about that now, it's about getting the results and hopefully we can look back with fondness on this season come the end."
Murray, along with team-mates Anthony Knockaert, Lewis Dunk and David Stockdale, were named in the EFL Championship team of the year.
He said: "It was nice to be named in it. These accolades are down to the team though more than me. Anthony, who has been nominated in the top three for player of the season, has done fantastic but obviously he needs our help to do that, as do I, Dunky and Stocko."
Seagulls boss Chris Hughton feels the quartet's selection in the team comes on the back of the form they have shown this season: "I was really delighted. That's testament to what the players have done this season.
"We generally don't single out players and there isn't one of them four that wouldn't have been named without the contribution of the squad we've got here.
"It's a wonderful mark of recognition of what the team have done this season."
Knockaert has been nominated for the Championship player of the year award, with Newcastle striker Dwight Gayle and Leeds forward Chris Wood.
Hughton said: "Anthony's stats speak for themself, with the goals he has scored and the assists he has got from a wide position.
"There's no doubt the fact he's up there and one of the contenders and he thoroughly deserves it."
Murray added: "I think they are the stand-out performers in the league this year. Those three have deserved their nominations."
