Crossley on target for England masters in home nations win

Hockey player Fran Crossley was on target for England ladies in their dazzling home nations success.

The Pennthorpe PE teacher was selected for the tournament in Edinburgh as a forward for the masters over-45 team.

England successfully beat Wales 4-2 with Crossley, from Barns Green, scoring two of the four goals.

They then secured a 4-2 victory against Ireland, and finally, beat Scotland 4-0 where Crossley scored the first goal for England.

Three victories saw England retain the Home Nations Trophy for the tenth year in a row.

Mother-of-two Crossley plays hockey for Brighton Hockey Club. Her employers Pennthorpe School have keenly supported her in allowing time off to play for the England Masters team.

The ladies over-50s, over-55s and over-60s teams, also won their respective age group home nations tournaments.

Crossley is also a current European champion as well as home nations one. She won a gold medal last year with England in the European Masters Championships.

She helped the England ladies to success in the same over-45 age group.
