Zaidi and Jayawardene star for Sussex 2nd at Horsham

Pakistani Ashar Zaidi made his return for Sussex following knee surgery for the 2nd XI in a double header T20 match against Surrey this week.

Sri Lankan World Cup winner Mahela Jayawardene was also in action in the first match at Cricketfield Road which Sussex won by a convincing 102 runs on Monday.

Zaidi top scored with 45 and Carl Cachopa made 41 as Sussex posted 186-6, before Surrey 2nds replied with 84-9.

In the second match, Phil Salt hit a quick fire 43 and Zaidi added 39 not out as Sussex posted a total of 181-4.

Chris Liddle then took 4-26 as Surrey were restricted to 163-7 to give Sussex an 18-run win.

Tymal Mills, Craig Cachopa, Ash Finch and Stuart Whittingham were also in action for Sussex, while Vikram Solanki, Azhar Mahood, Jade Dernbach and Aneesh Kapil all featured for Surrey.

A three-day match between the two sides at Horsham started this morning (Tuesday).
