After winning the toss and electing to bat, Wisborough looked at the prospect of posting a competitive total.

At 132-4 before the rain intervened the hosts looked to have got the early momentum and were well on the way to a good score of over 200. However the break in play seemed to give Pagham new impetus and shortly after the delay they were suddenly reduced to 140-8, before another good performance from the tail end saw Green to 179 all out.

After tea Ben Thatcher bowled well early on and kept things tight, picking up two early wickets to reduce Pagham to 45-2.

It was the introduction of Tim Monday and Raj Maru into the attack that suddenly changed the momentum though.

Raj bowled great areas, tying the batsmen down and making it very difficult to score runs.

At the other end Monday bowled brilliantly, mixing up his pace and causing the batsman all sorts of worries.

The pressure told as Pagham lost regular wickets and found themselves 101-7. With the weather rapidly deteriorating it was Tim Monday who took the final two wickets to wrap up a great victory.

Wisborough captain James Self said: “Another victory allows us to close the gap on those above us in the table, and hopefully we can now continue to build upon this.

“We now have the momentum going into the remaining games of the season and there is no reason why we cannot climb the table and put a gloss on the season.”
