Five defeats in the first half of their south group campaign had left them with a mountain to climb but the victory at Canterbury left them just a point behind their hosts.

Sussex batted first and Luke Wright struck 85 in their total of 149 for eight - then Stefab Piolet took three for 14 as the hosts were bowled out for 114.

Sussex are seventh in the south group table and their next game is at home to Middlesex at Hove this Friday (7pm)
