Roffey are Sussex League champions for second year

Ben Manenti starred with the ball, taking five wickets as they dismissed the visitors for 125.

Mike Norris then took charge of the Roffey reply, scoring 47 to help his side overtake their target for the loss of only two wickets in just 19.2 overs.

The Fleming brothers also played a key role with George taking 3-36 off 18.1 overs.

Captain Josh shared an a decisive second wicket partnership of 95 with Norris and stayed in to see off the target unbeaten on 37.

Fleming said: “We won the game with the ball. Ben Manenti took 5-31 and bowled really well.

“George Fleming took three wickets Leigh Harrison and Stu Whittingham and the others backed him up really well and kept it tight all the way.

“We never let them get away from us. We bowled and fielded really tight all day and picked up wickets at the right time. We bowled really well.”

Fleming admitted it was a make or break day with the fortunes of the whole season depending on getting a maximum-point win in the final match.

He said: “It was today or nothing. We had to win. 18 weeks worth of work, to lose it in the last game would be terrible.

“Middleton are a decent outfit and have a godo bowling attack so we knew we’d have to play well.

“We just turned up and got it done today!

“The last two seasons after a defeat we’ve really bounced back well. We haven’t let it take the wind out of our sails.

“We lost the first game against Preston Nomads and later East Grinstead and we thought our season was over. But since then we won six out of six.

“We are just a good all-round team. we don;t have any superstars. There are some good batters, geroge and Ben have blwoed superbly all year.

“To win 15 games you can’t rely on one or two players.

“East Grinstead are a good side with three or four professional players.

“The difference is someone has stepped up at every stage of the season to help us out in difficult periods. I think we maybe the only side that had that. Everyone contributes.”
