Batting at number seven, Nathan Roberts hit a crucial 78-ball 71 for Horsham after they had lost the toss and been asked to bat.

After an uncharacteristic early collapse where the top order failed to score for the first time in a number of weeks, Horsham were struggling at 41-4 and 66-5.

Openers Ben Shoare (22) and Tom Johnson (12) were bowled by Jordan Rollings and Sam Grant (5-46) with just 21 on the board.

Kevin Stoute added 13 and James Johnson made 22 to help them to 81-6. Roberts then led the way to boost them up to a competitive 164 in 43.3 overs as Ryan Brown (3-11) polished off the Horsham tail.

Tom Haines (2-11) and Mike Munday (3-46) then led the way to reduce Brighton to 16-3 and then 46-5.

Phil Salt was then trapped lbw by Munday for 38 and Brighton could have crashed if it wasn’t for some late runs.

Chris Atherton hit 48, as Jack Chopping and Adam Mates contributed 11, but George Garton (4-31) was to take a series of wickets to leave their hosts all out for 136.
