Skipper for the day Guy Thorne was the pick of a good team display in the field with 4-37 as Arundel were out for 136, and in reply Andy Parsons’ aggressive approach with the bat saw him rewarded with his first Slinfold century as they recorded a first league win in four games.

Thorne said: “There have been a couple of games this year in truth we should have won and it’s been a few weeks without a win so it was pleasing to get the 30 points after a professional performance.”

Slinfold’s opening bowler Ethan Ansell again claimed both the opening batsmen after Thorne had stuck the hosts in to bat first on a damp track.

Arundel rebuilt to reach 113-3, but a key direct-hit run-out from U15 player Dan Graycon proved the key moment as he dismissed Ally James for 31. Thorne took a wicket with the next ball and Arundel managed only 23 runs from the final five batsmen.

In reply Thorne and Parsons made 31 for the first wicket before Thorne suffered an unfortunate run out. Parsons though played an aggressive knock of 103 not out from 110 balls - including 15 fours and two sixes. Thorne added: “A win next week and we’ll be looking up instead of down.”
