HORSHAM Cricket Club’s new practice nets will be opened later this month with the aid of a £20,000 grant.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) cash injection is part of the national strategy to grow the number of people playing sport, sustain participation by encouraging more people to keep playing sport, and help talented sports people excel.
Horsham Cricket Club was also supported by the Horsham District Council (£10,000), Sussex County Council (£2,500), Gatwick Area Community Fund (£1,500) and the total project cost was £43,000 approximately.
Committee member, Polly Clark said, “It was fantastic news when we heard we had been awarded the grants because we urgently needed to up-grade our practice facilities. The new synthetic practice area is high quality and in accordance with ECB specifications and will provide the safe environment which is so important for the development of young cricketers.”
