Second-place Henfield failed to take advantage of leaders Steyning’s postponement at Wisborough Green by losing away at Keymer & Hassocks.
The defeat by two wickets ended Henfield’s four-match winning streak and keeps them 48 points behind Steyning in the Division Four table, both having picked up ten points.
Visiting Henfield won the toss and having elected to bat were bowled out for 166 in 50.5 overs.
Captain Adam Scott top scored with 32 opening, Scott Pedersen was next best with 26, and though there were some runs down the order, Henfield finished well under par.
In reply Henfield had the hosts in some trouble at 68-4 but a good partnership came between Lee Pittavino and Jamie Purtell (37). Henfield took eight wickets but Pittavino hung around to hit the winning runs as he finished on 42 not out.
Scott finished with figures of 3-24 and Brighton Mugochi 2-41. This Saturday Henfield host neighbours Slinfold.
