Heath make it two wins on the bounce to go third
Broadbridge Heath got their second win on the bounce as they beat Aldwick by 20 runs in a tense finish In Division 2 of the West Sussex Invitation League on Saturday.
Having been inserted on a relatively dry track, Heath made a solid start thanks to 44 from Jordan Ruff, however at 87-4, the home side were in danger of posting a below par score.
However, Michael Stocker (72) and Tom Endacott (56) put on 127 for the fifth wicket, allowing Heath to reach 230-6 off their allotted 49 overs.
In response, Aldwick started brightly with Louis Paul (75) regularly finding the boundary.
Nevertheless, Heath were able to take regular wickets at the other end thanks to once again to Endacott and Stocker, keeping the game in reach.
The visitors were still on course to reach their 231 target, and only needed four an over in the last 10 with four wickets in hand.
Fred Bridges however had other ideas and managed to clean up the tail with three overs to spare, returning figures of 5-51 to help them up to third in the table.
Captain Andy Skates said “this season we’ve always been capable of bowling sides out, it was just a case of whether we had enough runs on the board.
“Luckily our bowling unit were able to drag things back in our favour after Aldwick made a strong start.
“We have plenty of match winners in our side, and it’s always good to see a number of contributions on the scorecard.”
