‘Boro captain Lee Callagan said: “We were very confident after bowling them out but we knew it would be tough, it’s never that easy chasing a low score, they bowled well and it was a slow wicket.

“Our new overseas took seven wickets which was a boost, considering he’d not bowled for four weeks because of all the rain in Indian. He’ll take plenty more wickets this season.”

Seamer Waingankar found decent pace despite the wind and slow deck. Bexhill’s top scorer John Haffenden hit 47 off 41, but was helped by a caught behind decision that went his way while on around 15.

In reply Imran Khan opened with 28, but the hosts lost regular wickets as they struggled to score runs. Still last pair Shane West and Callagan looked set to knock off the runs with plenty of overs to spare, before West was trapped LBW.
