Cranleigh Rugby Club set their sights high for 2013/2014

The established club are looking to develop over the coming season following a restructuring within the clubs setup with the aim to re-climb the league structure.

The new coaching setup sees former Cranleigh player Jamie Williams developing further on his introduction to coaching the club from last year. Jamie initially joined the club within the junior setup and played with the colts side before leaving for university. Enjoying the playing and social side of university rugby Jamie joined Worthing RFC in 2005 only for an injury to cut the season short. An introduction to American Football saw Jamie play for the previously top flight Farnham Knights side before rugby called him back to play for the Cranleigh senior setup. Seeking to test his ability Jamie left to play at Esher where he played for 4 seasons before a severe ankle break and subsequent infection called time on his playing days. Jamie now attacks rugby as a coach in the same way he did as a player with full commitment and passion and along is hoping to impart his love for controlled, but fast flowing rugby onto the talented Cranleigh playing pool.

Jamie started his coaching with Esher in the build up to the 2013 season. Jamie then joined Cranleigh within the coaching set up and is hoping to assist with helping the club reassert themselves within Surrey 1 and above.

Working with the committee and the players, Cranleigh have set out their ambitious goals for the coming season and beyond. Pre-season commenced on June 25th to ensure payers get the full benefits of the intense fitness training as well as developing their skill levels and tactical abilities, with the hope of pushing the players to a level they aspire to reach. The coaching setup is structured to assist players of all levels through from beginners to established players. The senior sides are adhering to an agreed code of conduct that will see players approach their rugby with a new found level of professionalism whilst maintaining the much needed and legendary Cranleigh RFC social setup. All new players will be welcomed by the club and training is from 7.15pm on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at Cranleigh RFC, Wildwood Lane, Cranleigh, Surrey, GU6 8JR.
