Clive beats World Number One en route to his first first national final in 44 years

Horsham League representative Clive Thompson reached his first national final after 44 years competing at the inaugural East Anglian 4-Pin Open, held in Norwich.

This week’s round of league matches saw Holbrook Club push Roffey all the way, before the league leaders came out on top giving them a four-point cushion. Lee Cable hit 8.8K, Stuart Carruthers a season’s best of 8950 and Gareth Lloyd 14K.

Black Dog won at home against Stout House A but remain deep in the relegation places. Stout’s John Tidy won by a narrow margin but best was Keith Newman’s 7.8K.

Windmill B held off Mill House in a 3-2 win. Old foes Steve Eely and Tony Franks met in the last and as expected both played hard with Steve just edging it.

Southwater are still getting used to their new top but claimed a low scoring win against Windmill A.

Stout House BB hold on to a strong third place with a solid performance at home against Limeburners.

Dun Horse B were the only away winners of the week as they went to the Plough. This side are determined to take the fight all the way. Jim Greensted took out Plough’s Mark Webber with a good sub 7K score. Plough’s Geoff Parsons equalised but wins for Lorraine Hall and Pete Edwards were enough with Derek Taylor taking the last.
