BOWLS: Grattons enjoy success in national Yetton Trophy

Grattons brushed aside Falaise’s efforts to win 90-66 at home and away in the National Yetton Trophy.

The mixed team lost 49-92 to Egerton Park in the national Egham Trophy.

Sunday afternoon and the mixed team were entertaining outdoor club Monotype. Grattons started well slowly building an 18-shot advantage by teatime.

Monotype managed to halt Grattons advances but were unable to cut the deficit. Grattons came out winners 116-96.

Captain Steve said: “A great afternoon with everyone enjoying the game.”

The ladies played SWIBA a combined Sussex team on Monday winning 115-101. Captain Sue said “It’s always rewarding to beat the county side.”

Top rink Gill Barker, Sandie Rogers, Liz Tourell and June Schollar. Wednesday was the turn of the men, this time playing the Sussex Past Presidents team.

Grattons took an early lead and maintained their concentration to win 116-94.

Captain Dennis said: “It was a good close game throughout played in a good spirit.”

Top rink Peter Fleming, Terry Schollar, Brian Williams-Fuller and skip Keith Knight.
