The folly of consultants’ costs

ON JULY 21 the County Times reported that £20,000 was needed by Upper Beeding Primary School to reburbish the original school building where a new classroom is needed.

Members of the public are invited to contribute such sums as £5 for a brick, £10 towards a radiator or £20 for a door - basic items that surely the county council should be providing for a school building.

On July 28 you reported that West Sussex County Council had spent £50m - yes, £50m - on consultants since 2006.

This leads me to ask whether we can trust the county council to spend our money wisely.

A fraction of the amount spent on consultants would see our schools, libraries etc properly provided for,
