Support for use of living wills

I fully agree with the article in the County Times about Dignity in Dying and support Sue Mackie wholeheartedly in this campaign.

I watched my own father die a slow lingering death which lasted six months when he suffered with cancer.

He was left with no dignity at all. Although the hospital staff were fantastic, the end is out of their hands. No one should have to die like this.

We treat animals better than human beings. If animals are in pain and suffering with no hope of a cure we would be prosecuted for keeping the animal alive, but it seems that to leave a human being to suffer is seen as OK - it is not.

A living will should be introduced and upheld legally, as long as it is completed by the person while still capable of making their own decisions.
