Standing in glorious sunshine in Horsham Carfax with thousands of local people at the War Memorial in the town centre last Sunday was both a moving and humbling experience as the wreath laying is undertaken by local councillors, Royal British Legion members, young cadets, old soldiers and children.
Grateful thanks must surely go to Dianne Loates, secretary of the RBL, and her dedicated team of volunteers who not only manned the ‘Poppy Shop’ in the Carfax during the past two weeks, but also for their flawless organisation of the service at the War Memorial.
This is one of the many reasons I have lived and worked in Horsham for over 33 years, there is indeed, no better place.
