SIMON Parker is right to call for traffic calming measures in Strood Lane (County Times, March 1).
This has traditionally been one of Warnham’s quiet country lanes and a safe environment for walkers, cyclists and horse riders.
Now it is being turned into a rat-run for speeding motorists, who will have been encouraged to put their foot down by the recent resurfacing work. The council’s intention to close the Broadbridge Heath bypass threatens to make matters much worse.
The plans should be reviewed to ensure that new access roads are adequate to protect the area’s precious country lanes for future generations.
