It was very pleasing to see that debate in Horsham isn’t dead. I am referring to the Trident Debate, held at Collyer’s recently, organised by the Horsham Labour Party.
This well attended debate heard excellent speeches from two invited speakers and two Collyer’s students as well as many well considered arguments from the audience.
At the end a clear majority of the audience voted in favour of not replacing Trident but as importantly, the views of each side were respected by the other and everyone had become better informed.
Many thanks to Horsham Labour Party for organising such a worthwhile debate on a very important topic of concern to many.
For those beyond the audience who are not in favour of replacing Trident, a demonstration has been called by the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) to Stop Trident, Hyde Park to Trafalgar Square, Saturday 27th February.
Please join the Horsham contingent if you can.
