Bravo to Horsham councillors in the Conservatives and Lib Dems who recognise that we do need more housing in Horsham but have fought back against Cllr Claire Vickers’ reckless plan to dump houses in the strategic gap between Horsham and Crawley.
Cllrs Ray Dawe and Vickers are ‘stuck in the bunker’ when it comes to their housing plan.
It’s been nearly two years since Cllr Dawe and the then Cllr Jim Rae wrote in this newspaper, on 4 Jul 2013, trumpeting the need for a 500,000 sq ft business park in Horsham. Two years on and not one company has expressed an intention to move to it.
In the meantime Horsham District Council’s own purpose built offices (Park North) are to be converted into flats, along with another office block (Linden House) next door to HDC’s new offices.
HDC’s plan presented to the Planning Inspector last autumn is a dodgy dossier. Some councillors have seen through, it along with over 3,000 members of the public who have signed have signed an e-petition atwww.savingnorthhorsham.co.uk. It’s not too late for readers to add their signatures.
