Community cafe every week

With reference to the article ‘Community tea room for village’ West Sussex County Times, May 31. The article about opening a Community Tea Room in the Small Hall at Washington Memorial Hall says, and I quote ‘there are currently no other such services in the village’.

That statement is not true as since October of last year there has been a Community Cafe every Wednesday afternoon in the Large Hall at the Washington Memorial Hall, started and run by a group of volunteer ladies from St Mary’s Church in the village.

They serve hot and cold drinks and home-made cakes which are baked by volunteers, including me.

There is no charge made but a donation is requested. All money raised, except for a small amount of expenses, is donated to local charities or charities with a link to the village.
